Isle of Man

 

  • Folk Music in the Isle of Man, is a non-profit site maintained entirely by musicians working in the Isle of Man. Its purpose is to promote Manx (folk) music.
  • Bwoie Doal, Manx traditional music and songs.
  • Arthur Caley Giant Band, is devoted exclusively to Manx music. They play both traditional Manx melodies and new folk songs by Manx composers.
  • Emma Christian, is the leading performer of ancient Celtic music from the Isle of Man. Emma sings in Manx Gaelic and accompanies herself on Celtic harp and recorder.
  • Caarjyn Cooidjagh, is an unaccompanied choral group specializing in Manx songs, ballads and amateur dramatics. The groups sings both traditional music and arrangements written by the group members.
  • The Calor Gas Ceilidh Band's repertoire is a very wide one. The only criteria for a tune is that it provides a good rhythm for dancing, while dances are picked up from Man and everywhere....
  • Cliogaree Twoaie, is a vocal group that sings Manks songs as well as perform Manks dances.
  • The Mollag Band, Contemporary Manx Folk.
  • Paitchyn Vannin's repertoire consists of both traditional music - sung in Manx Gaelic - and, more recently, newly composed pieces in the Manx idiom.
  • Perree Bane, is a dance, instrumental and vocal folk group devotes to traditional Manks songs and dances.
  • Phynnodderee, play traditional music - sung in Manx Gaelic - and, more recently, newly composed pieces in the Manx idiom.
  • Roly Drower & Sulby Phantom Band Share, their work is dark and rhythmic in nature. It derives much of its character from Celtic and nordic sources, particularly the folk traditions of the Island.
  • Share na Veg, is a group of young musicians playing, and occasionally singing, almost exclusively Manx traditional music.
  • The Tholtan Builders, is a group devoted to folk and ethnic music of all kinds.
