Marius Schneider

 

He was born in 1903 in Alsace. He studied philology, musicology,

piano and composition in Berlin and, after graduating,

staterd a ong research about polyphony in all the world. He took up the menagment of PhonogrammArchiv of Berlin in 1933,

accepting to live together Hitler's rc gime.

But in 1944 the madness of Nazism and necessity to restart his researches pulled him to Spain.

He organized the ethno-musicology department of the local institute of Musicology;

afterwards he combined his study and the musical symbolis of ancient cultures and, also, primitive music.

In 1960 Scneider gave his contribution to Encyclopedya of Pleiad published in Italy in 1992,

with the title: "Primitive music". He died at Marquarstein in Bavaria in 1982.
