The rhythmical phrasing of tamburello is a kind of a dual interwoven
of complementary opposites. the alternation of binary and ternary
rhitms produces the socalled " ritual ambiguity" and rappresents
the conflictual dimension of struggle. From the structural
point of view, the "tamburello" symbolizes duality too.
It seems to join two different ancient cultures: on one hand the
mediterranean one with the picture of Dionysus, who is the god
of simultaneous presence of opposites; on the other hand, the
Germanic and Celtic one, with the symbol of swastika.
